Secondary Placements
A. MCLEAN SE ADULT INPATIENT: (Adult Inpatient and Partial Hospital Placement)
McLean Hospital SouthEast is a satellite program of McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. Located in Brockton, MA, the McLean SE adult program consists of a 25-bed inpatient unit and 16-slot Partial Hospital Program treating both men and women with a wide range of psychiatric conditions. The inpatient length of stay averages about 1 week, and the PHP (Mon.– Fri.) length of stay averages approximately 2 weeks. Both levels of treatment are intense and include milieu treatment (CBT and psychoeducational, with numerous group therapies included), individual and family therapy, psychiatry, and case management. During their 20 hour per week placement interns manage 3 to 4 cases, lead 3 to 4 groups a week, and have regular opportunity to administer psychological testing. Interns experience both the inpatient and Partial Hospital Programs. Interns receive a minimum of one hour of individual supervision, with separate supervision for testing. (One of these is already filled for the "10-11" year)
B. MCLEAN SE ACUTE RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT: (Adolescent Inpatient Placement)
The McLean ART is a 20 bed short term (1-2 weeks) coed residential program serving teens with a wide range of serious psychiatric problems. Residents typically have a complex combination of individual impairment, family challenges, and system needs. Treatment is intense, and includes milieu treatment (DBT based psychoeducational, with numerous group therapies included), individual and family therapy, psychiatry and case management. During their 20 hour per week placement interns manage a caseload of 2 cases and are responsible for all aspects of treatment. Interns typically lead 2 groups per week, and administer between 6 and 10 psych testing batteries a year. Interns receive a minimum of one hour of individual supervision, with separate supervision for testing.
C. FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM
Foundations is a flexible, community based program, which offers a variety of services to support children and teens, aged 4 to 18 years, with mental illness and/or serious emotional and behavioral difficulties, and their families. Services include family, individual and group therapy, skills groups including DBT, psychiatry, parent support, sibling support, overnight respite, recreational activities, life coaching, family activities, a drop-in center, school liaison, collaboration with community-based programs, access to 24 hour crisis support, financial assistance, and transportation assistance. All referrals to Foundations come from the Department of Mental Health.
D. SOUTH SHORE EDUCATIONAL COLLABORATIVE
South Shore Educational Collaborative is a therapeutic day school located in Hingham, MA. The 20 hour per week placement is in the Quest Program which serves the elementary/middle school population. Interns carry a caseload of 2 to 3 students who are placed at Quest for the school year, another 2 to 3 students undergoing a 45 day assessment period, and co-lead classroom groups with another clinician. Interns receive an hour each of individual and group supervision and there is a bi-monthly psychiatry consultation. Treatment is focused on affect management and developing coping skills, family work and collaboration with collateral providers is essential.
